ImBoB
Want to do some aquascaping, remembered there are some pretty looking rocks in my backyard but im not sure if they would alter the water chemistry as I have 0 experience at identifying rocks of any kind. The rocks came from the sea side back when we went on a vacation four years ago, since then they have been in the backyard in the gravel with the plants. 4 years of raining, snowing, should be enough time to get rid of any salt from the sea, or stuff like that.. right? chappy6107
easiest way to find out is with hydrochloric acid or white vinegar will work too. put a few drops on the rock in question and if it fizzes, it will change your water parameters. oem and Vpier
dao
From what I have read all rocks do infuelnce water parameters in some way. However what chappy posted is a good indicator whether the rock will dissolve in acidic conditions and raise pH.
